Raul Cuero's View on Creativity

Creativity. Defined as the use of imagination or original ideas. In Raul Cuero's opinion, creativity is from the "unknown." He believes that the creative process is not something that one can initiate. Creativity is a natural entity that flows from the mind on its own time.

In our everyday lives, we need to be creative. Original thought drives success. Forced creativity is never as productive as natural flowed imagination. Cuero, as many creatives have decided, claims that one needs to "trust the process."

Cuero comments on the lack of modern human connection during the interview. In his opinion, technology has put a cap on children's creativity these days. He says that "ideas come from interaction with other ideas." When kids these days have their faces shoved in front of a screen, their ideas are much less likely to interact.

Creativity is key in both art and technology. It is not planned. We have not planned the advancement of communication and transportation. It has all happened naturally. No artist has the exact picture of his or her final work at the start of the creative process.

Creativity is messy. She is rooted in all of us whether we like it or not. Creative expression takes courage. To put one's opinions and emotions and thoughts out for all the world to critique and view is terrifying. I speak from personal experience.

In my life, creative expression has been my constant companion. I am an artist and an innovator in my everyday life. Whether I am organizing a desk drawer or taking on a huge creative project, the creative process IS in my life. And I cannot wait to see where it takes me.

Who Am I?

Hi! My name is Bella Ruiz and I am from right here in Tampa, Florida! I am a pre-professional makeup artist as well as a missionary. I spend a lot of time in Sainte Suzanne, Haiti helping the community implement self-sustaining agricultural projects. Those are my two life passions! My first impression of this class is that it is going to be very interesting. I took Visual Arts in high school and I've always been interested in how art has evolved in relation to the advancement of technology. Our world is ever-changing and we cannot just watch it happen. We have to experience it. I expect that exact experience out of this class. To experience how our world is shaped by art and technology. I want to learn about different ways that I can incorporate technology into my art and art into forms of technology. It's a very interesting relationship and I greatly look forward to it!
